Janice and Sonny Woods want to make your stay at Th’ Woods Buffalo River Cabins an enjoyable and memorable one. We would like you to feel welcome as one of our large circle of family and friends.

Because you're here at our site, we
know you're interested in our cabins,
but we thought you would be interested in knowing a little bit about us and our lives. First, as we're sure you have already surmised, our lives center around family and friends. But, our life is more. We're also community-minded. Sonny was born and raised in Searcy County Arkansas and has been self-employed since age thirteen. Aside from owning and operating his own Arkansas Natural Stone, Logging, Tree-trimming Service, Heavy-Equipment Service and Construction businesses, Sonny has also served as Mayor of Marshall, Arkansas in the past. Janice is a registered nurse employed at an area hospital with over thirty-two years of service particularly in the areas of trauma and critical care including years of service in the emergency room as well as I.C.U. and C.C.U. and she has held the position of Director of Nursing in a major metropolitan healthcare facility.

When the local historic train station-depot was scheduled to be torn down, Janice and Sonny got busy and at their own expense saved this wonderful old Train Depot from demolition. They then worked hard to relocate this Historic Depot to a new home. They plan to restore and find a new life for this wonderful old historic building.

Sonny is involved in a number of local fund-raisers including Special Services For Kids - when they held “Ugliest Woman” Contests for two years, he was there. In the spirit of good humor & fun, area community leaders participated in this very successful fundraiser and the audience was delighted with all the ‘Ugly’ contestants. We thought you'd enjoy a couple of photos of Sonny - of coarse one year he won the title! In 2002 Sonny received a very special letter from Governor Mike Huckabee for his generous spirit in helping a visitor to the state that was on vacation.

Annually at Christmas, Janice and Sonny collect and distribute groceries and toys to area families and seniors and annually at Halloween they distribute up to 200 pounds of treats to as many as 500 kids. Janice is involved with a number of health-related organizations including the Heart Association & the Volunteer Nurses Association.

Besides being outdoor enthusiasts, Sonny and Janice can often be seen at area auctions and they both love to four-wheel the many ATV trails on and around the 100 acres of Th’ Woods Buffalo River Cabins property. Sonny is an avid collector of 'Case Knives', old tools & farm implements. Janice loves to dig for arrowheads, is a flower gardner and she crochets, knits and loves decorating their home and the cabins. They both love and collect antiques - you'll find many of them in their cabins.
